AARP Homeowners Insurance

AARP is one of the largest organizations for adults age 50 and older in the United States, offering extensive services to their members, including various types of insurance products, discounts, and other extras. Acting as an advocacy group for retired and aged Americans, AARP as a foundation is rooted in keeping older people on their feet. In addition to the nonprofit organization, AARP has a strong brand name of products for insurance, including homeowners coverage.

The AARP Homeowners Insurance Program from The Hartford allows policyholders to connect with a reputable provider to cover the cost of their valuables. Insuring 18 million individual customers and 1 million business customers with auto and homeowners policies, The Hartford has been a top rated company by J.D. Power and Associates’ member surveys for several years. Combined with the AARP name, this reputable carrier offers homeowners insurance with several enticing attributes to members of the AARP organization. AARP has marketed home insurance products from The Hartford for nearly 30 years, a company whose complaint ratio is consistently below average.

AARP Home Insurance Benefits

AARP Homeowners Insurance from The Hartford offers an exceptional level of coverage for your home, including a 100 percent protection plan, lifetime renewability, and additional benefits most home insurance policies do not include. Discover how these plans can work for you and provide the peace of mind you expect from a dependable insurance plan.

Full Protection Plan

A benefit that covers your home for the entire cost of replacement, this addition to your coverage ensures that if something happens to your home it will be paid for. Your plan will pay the rebuilding expenses in full, regardless if it costs up to 125% or 150% (you can choose either option) of your policy’s maximum amount.

Guaranteed Renewable

As long as you pay your monthly premiums, you can always renew your plan and keep your house protected under the same coverage through The Hartford and AARP. Making timely payments, being a member for at least 60 days, and your home being insured for at least 80 percent of rebuilding expenses are the only requirements for this feature, which is not available through most home insurers.

Possession Replacement

The Hartford will pay the full cost (new) to replace any possessions, despite age or condition, and provide a new replacement of equal value to its original cost.

Deductible Exemption

If your home is devastated by a qualifying event covered by your plan of up to $22,500 or greater, your home insurance deductible will be waived at up to $5,000. This is not applicable to instances for which a special deductible is required, such as earthquake, hurricane, wind/hail, coal mine subsidence, or supplemental theft deductibles.

Flood Coverage

Flood insurance is not included with the majority of homeowners insurance policies, though The Hartford offers discounts when you bundle additional coverages. Their flood insurance is provided by the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), which is based by the federal government to add extra help.
